Romero Insurance Brokers and We Are Wellbeing

A case study of Wellbeing Changes at Romero Insurance Brokers through their partnership with We Are Wellbeing

The Background

Romero Insurance Brokers are a multi award-winning insurance brokers with head offices in Leeds. Over the past decade, they have grown, establishing multiple offices across the country. Although Romero Insurance Brokers have always been dedicated to the welfare of their team members, the significant growth has meant that they needed more specialist support in helping every individual feel part of the Romero family and more so, to have support in their wellbeing.

It is understood that if staff are happy and have good overall wellbeing, their productivity increases. This is among the great reasons why Romero Insurance Brokers wanted to invest in and improve their wellbeing offering.

“People are at the heart of our business. From our customers to our staff, to the insurers we work with. We care about doing the best for every individual and treat everyone as part of our family.” – Romero Insurance Brokers

It was concluded that introducing a Health and Wellbeing Strategy would deliver tangible benefits and a return on investment for Romero Insurance Brokers. They wished to host many benefits in order to improve the engagement and productivity of employees at work.

The Challenge

One of the major challenges Romero Insurance Brokers faced was gaining consistent staff engagement. With the company growing and in turn, the culture becoming more diverse, it was proving harder and harder to gather engagement in the usual wellbeing initiatives.

Furthermore, it is important to note that not everyone is proactive in improving their wellbeing. These are the people we wanted to reach. Our aim was to make sure all employees felt included in the company culture and felt a sense of belonging.

The Solution

Our mission began with creating a wellbeing survey for staff which would gain insight into the most popular possible initiatives we could offer. The survey results helped us to gauge where we could improve our wellbeing strategy plan for the quarter.

We then delivered an extensive range of initiatives. Initiatives we have offered include:

  • Massages
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Essential health checks
  • Counselling
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Physio
  • WellWoman / WellMan Blood Tests
  • Reiki
  • Dru Yoga
  • Mindfulness sessions
  • Boxing classes
  • Bootcamp classes
  • Pilates
  • Creative events

Through a diverse portfolio of wellbeing offerings, as well as by taking on board suggested activities, we’ve created a wellbeing programme that has received consistent staff engagement. We’ve also managed to interact with employees who would otherwise have been shut off to wellbeing initiatives.

The Result

Since the end of 2022 we signed up over 150 staff members to our app which hosts our wellbeing initiatives. The services have been delivered on-site by our team of Health and Wellbeing experts utilising our on-site Wellbeing Clinic and breakout spaces.

To date we have delivered…

  • 68 blood tests
  • 38 counselling sessions
  • 25 reiki sessions
  • 31 food intolerance tests
  • 87 hypnotherapy appointments
  • 233 massage appointments

Examples of feedback from staff at Romero Insurance Brokers:

“I think the company have this spot on, there are many areas of support to be offered, we all have different challenges and needs and for me I can honestly say I have not worked for a better supportive company… From me I’d just like to say perfect and how nice to work for a supportive company.”

“The wellbeing service just keeps on getting better. I can’t think of anything else they could offer at this time.”

“The support you give as a company is much more than most, I feel it is more genuine too. Like seeing what’s coming next.”
