Connect 5 Training builds the capacity, capability and confidence – enabling people to look after their own and others’ mental wellbeing through proactive conversations.

Connect 5 is delivered over 3 modules, each approximately 3 hours in length, and can be completed either online or in-person.

What is Connect 5 training?
What does mental health training involve?

Connect 5 is a training course that gives participants the skills and confidence to have enabling conversations with people in their work and lives. Informed by contemporary evidence, these conversations empower individuals to take action that improves mental health and wellbeing.

Connect 5 training builds the capacity and capability of the participants to look after their own and others’ mental wellbeing proactively.

The course is undertaken in three separate modules. Each module is 3 hours long and can be delivered in-person, live online, or a mixture of both. The programme underpins the principle of ‘Making Every Contact Count’ and supports the best use of frontline staff’s skills and local contacts.

Module 1

An introduction to Connect 5 for anyone who wants to improve their own and others mental wellbeing and has the opportunity to give brief wellbeing advice.

This module will include learning:

  • To extend your skills and confidence to have mental wellbeing conversations within everyday life and the workplace.
  • About public mental health models and recognised techniques (i.e., The 3Cs of Connected Conversations) to inform mental wellbeing conversations.
  • On where to find mental wellbeing resources.

Module 2

Builds on module 1 so that learners understand wellbeing needs and are able to offer one off brief wellbeing interventions to others.

This module includes information on suicide awareness. Learning in this module will enable you to:

  • Apply recognised models, such as the ‘Five Areas Model’ to a wellbeing conversation and practice the ‘3Cs’ of Connected Conversations, learnt in Module 1;
  • Assess the nature and extent of the mental wellbeing issue being presented to ensure people get the right help at the right time, including suicide awareness;
  • Identify steps that can be taken to improve mental wellbeing.

Module 3

Furthers the knowledge and skills developed in modules 1 & 2 to motivate and support people to make changes to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Module 3 will include learning to:

  • Explore self-help tools and life skills to promote mental wellbeing
    in more depth;
  • Enable you to support a person to improve and protect their mental wellbeing by practicing the application of self-help tools.

Andy has over 18 years’ experience working in the health and wellbeing industry in both corporate and commercial sectors.

You’ll most likely spot Andy running Senior Leader / Manager Training sessions or running Executive Health Screenings.

Having spent 10 years running a commercial business and acknowledging the need for a kinder workplace she made the transition into Cooperate Wellbeing.
